Hyundai Motor America announced on Wednesday that it sold 79,278 vehicles in August, marking a 22 percent increase from the 65,046 units sold in the same month last year. Hybrid sales saw a substantial rise, with total hybrid vehicle sales increasing by 69 percent. Hybrid-only retail sales soared by 81 percent, while retail electric vehicle (EV) sales rose by 27 percent, led by a 74 percent increase in sales of the IONIQ 5.
Hyundai set a new record for retail sales in August, achieving a 28 percent year-over-year increase. This performance was bolstered by a 49 percent growth in eco-friendly retail sales.
Year-to-date, Hyundai's total sales have risen by 4 percent to 548,003 units, up from 526,186 units in the same period last year.
