Italy's retail sales saw a notable increase in July, surpassing expectations, following a decline in June, according to data released by the statistical office ISTAT on Friday.
Retail sales value experienced a 0.5 percent rise from the previous month, reversing a 0.4 percent decrease in June. This performance exceeded economists' forecast of a 0.1 percent uptick. Both food and non-food retail sales contributed to this growth, with increases of 0.5 percent and 0.6 percent, respectively.
Additionally, the volume of retail sales rebounded by 0.3 percent on a monthly basis, after a similar 0.3 percent decline in June.
On a yearly basis, the value of retail sales increased by 1.0 percent in July, contrasting with a 1.1 percent drop in the previous month.
