Swiss stocks initially showed promise until early afternoon, experiencing a dip before rallying in the last hour of trading due to targeted buying, ultimately finishing the session on a positive note.
The cautious atmosphere in the market was influenced by weak economic sentiment data from the eurozone, anticipation surrounding the release of the U.S. Federal Reserve's meeting minutes later that day, and forthcoming U.S. employment figures set to be disclosed later in the week.
The Swiss Market Index (SMI) concluded the day with a gain of 45.44 points or 0.38%, settling at 11,876.21. During intraday trading, the index peaked at 11,937.72 and bottomed out at 11,783.22.
Partners Group saw a significant rise of nearly 2.5%, spurred by a rating upgrade from Deutsche Bank. In addition, Sandoz Group saw an increase of 1.44%. Other notable gainers included Holcim, Roche Holding, ABB, Novartis, Lonza Group, Nestle, and Sika, each posting gains between 0.5% and 1.1%.
On the downside, Geberit and Logitech International ended the day with declines of 1.52% and 1.43%, respectively. Alcon, Lindt & Sprüngli, Adecco, and VAT Group also experienced losses, falling between 0.8% and 1.2%.
