Raytheon, an RTX Corporation subsidiary, announced on Monday that it has secured a contract valued at $333 million from the U.S. Navy to manufacture Standard Missile-6 (SM-6) Block IA missiles.
"SM-6 boasts a track record of reliable performance, and this contract represents a critical stride in delivering this essential weaponry to our military forces," stated Barbara Borgonovi, President of Naval Power at Raytheon. "Raytheon remains committed to collaborating closely with our clients to ensure our military retains a strategic maritime advantage while keeping potential adversaries uncertain."
These SM-6 missiles, which are deployed on U.S. Navy vessels, provide proven offensive and defensive capabilities beyond the horizon, utilizing the established Standard Missile design and propulsion technology.
The production activities under this contract will take place at Raytheon's facilities located in Tucson, Arizona; Huntsville, Alabama; Andover, Massachusetts; and Dine, New Mexico, with completion anticipated by 2027.
