FX.co ★ Swiss Current Account Surplus Narrows in Q4

In the fourth quarter of 2024, Switzerland's current account surplus decreased to CHF 9.8 billion, compared to CHF 13.8 billion during the same period the previous year. Notably, the primary income deficit rose to CHF 7.2 billion from CHF 3.6 billion in the fourth quarter of 2023. Additionally, the secondary income deficit expanded to CHF 3.4 billion, up from CHF 1.8 billion. Moreover, the services account shortfall increased to CHF 9.4 billion from CHF 8.7 billion. Conversely, the goods account surplus grew, reaching CHF 30 billion in the fourth quarter of 2024, up from CHF 27.9 billion a year earlier.
