In April 2025, Sri Lanka experienced a notable increase in foreign tourist arrivals, reaching 174,608—an impressive 17.3% rise compared to the same month the previous year. This marks a significant acceleration from the 9.62% growth recorded in March. Major contributing markets included India, which maintained its position as the leading source with 22.2% of tourists, followed by the United Kingdom at 9.9%, Russia at 7.7%, Germany at 6.7%, Australia at 6.2%, and China at 5%. When assessing the period from January to April, the influx of international visitors surged by 14.3% year-on-year, totaling 896,884. However, on a month-to-month comparison, there was a 23.9% decline in foreign tourist numbers.
