In April 2025, Turkey experienced a rise in its seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, which reached 8.6%, the highest since November 2024. This reflects an increase from the previously revised rate of 8% in March. The number of unemployed individuals rose by 203,000, totaling 3.063 million, hitting a five-month peak. Concurrently, employment numbers fell by 316,000 to 32.359 million, causing the employment rate to decrease to 48.8% from March's revised figure of 49.3%. The employment rate among men was recorded at 65.8%, whereas it was notably lower for women, at 32.2%. Additionally, the labor force participation rate slightly declined to 53.4% from a revised 53.6%. In contrast, the youth unemployment rate increased to 15.7%, a four-month high, from a revised rate of 15.3% in March.
