Eurozone Growth Revised Up to 0.6% in Q1, Strongest Since 2022

In the first quarter of 2025, the Eurozone economy experienced a robust growth of 0.6%, a significant rise from the initial estimate of 0.3%, marking its most substantial expansion since the third quarter of 2022. This upturn was largely fueled by Ireland's remarkable 9.7% surge and an unexpectedly stronger performance from Germany. Among the major economies, Spain and Germany led the way with growth rates of 0.6% and 0.4%, respectively. Italy followed with a 0.3% increase, while both France and the Netherlands recorded modest gains of 0.1%. Regarding expenditure, fixed investment saw a substantial jump of 1.8%, an increase from the previous quarter's 0.7%. Household consumption grew by 0.2%, although this was a slight decline from the 0.5% seen earlier. Government spending remained stable, in contrast to the 0.4% growth noted in the previous quarter. The contribution from net trade added 0.1 percentage points to GDP, as export growth outstripped imports. However, changes in inventory levels reduced overall GDP growth by 0.1 percentage points.
