The United Kingdom's GfK Consumer Confidence Index rose by 2 points in June 2025, reaching -18, marking the second consecutive month of increases following -23 in April and -20 in May. This improvement stems from a more positive perspective on the economy, though overall sentiment remains guarded due to continuing global tariff disputes and geopolitical issues in the Middle East. While subindexes reflecting the state of the economy and its future prospects showed progress, perceptions of personal finances remained unchanged. Neil Bellamy, GfK’s Consumer Insights Director, emphasized that the uptick was "driven by improvements in how consumers view the economy," yet he warned that escalating oil prices resulting from Middle East conflicts and ongoing tariff tensions continue to exert pressure on consumer optimism.
