The Baltic Exchange's main sea freight index saw a decline of 1.4% to settle at 2,226 on Monday, following three weeks of consecutive growth. The capesize index, responsible for transporting large 150,000-ton shipments of commodities like iron ore and coal, slipped by 1.4% to 3,774. Meanwhile, the panamax index, which typically handles loads in the range of 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, decreased by 2.2% to 1,798, marking its lowest point since July 10. In the category of smaller vessels, the supramax index experienced a slight decrease of 0.4%, landing at 1,289.
