In July 2025, Hungary experienced a 9% annual increase in gross wages, reaching HUF 693,700. This reflects a deceleration from the previous month's 9.7% rise. The primary factor behind this moderation was the tempered wage growth in both the private sector, which saw an 8.7% increase compared to 9.7% in June, and the non-profit sector, which grew by 9.1% against the 10.7% noted earlier. Conversely, the public sector experienced a wage growth acceleration to 10%, up from 9.5%. Excluding one-off payments and bonuses, wages in July were 8.5% higher than the same period in the previous year, amounting to HUF 656,600. Over the January to July span, the average increase in gross wages stood at 9.1%.
