In August 2025, retail sales in Mexico experienced a 2.4% increase compared to the same month the previous year, maintaining the growth rate observed in July. This expansion was largely fueled by substantial increases in online and catalog sales, which surged by 17.3%, followed by household appliances at 7.2%, department stores at 4.8%, and motor vehicles and fuels at 2.5%. However, there were notable declines in a few categories: groceries and beverages decreased by 2.7%, hardware, paint supplies, and glass products fell by 2.2%, stationery and recreational goods dropped by 0.8%, and textiles and footwear slightly decreased by 0.2%. Additionally, retail employment saw a moderate rise of 0.7%, while wages grew by 4.5%. When seasonally adjusted, real income from goods and services experienced a slight monthly increase of 0.1%.
