France Consumer Confidence Improves in October

In October 2025, consumer confidence in France increased to 90, a rise from an upwardly revised 88 in September. This represents the highest point since April and brings it closer to the long-term benchmark of 100. French households have displayed reduced pessimism concerning their financial prospects, with expectations improving to -11 from September's -14 and their perception of the past financial situation slightly enhanced, moving from -21 to -20. The sentiment towards saving has also strengthened, with current saving capacity rising to 23 from 20, and expected saving capacity increasing to 19 from 17. Additionally, intentions to save have reached a four-month peak of 44. On the other hand, intentions towards major purchases have shown a modest improvement, climbing to -29 from -31, while the outlook on unemployment has eased to 48 from 54, indicating a growing optimism in the labor market. The perception of the past standard of living remained consistent at -72, whereas future expectations improved, rising to -56 from -61. Lastly, perceptions regarding prices remained stable, with past consumer prices at -6 and future inflation expectations steady at -32.
