As of November 6th, 2025, the average interest rate for a 30-year fixed mortgage increased to 6.22%, according to Freddie Mac's survey of lending institutions. This marks a rise from the previous week's rate of 6.17%, the lowest recorded since early October 2024. "This week, the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged at 6.22%. For those purchasing a median-priced home, this increase could still lead to thousands of dollars in annual savings compared to rates earlier this year, indicating a gradual improvement in affordability," stated Sam Khater, the chief economist at Freddie Mac.
