The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk index, a key indicator of shipping rates for vessels carrying dry commodities, saw its third consecutive session of gains on Monday. The index climbed approximately 1.3%, reaching 2,153 points, the highest since September 29, largely due to strength in the larger vessel category. Specifically, the capesize index, which is dedicated to transporting substantial cargoes of 150,000 tons like iron ore and coal, rose for the third straight day, increasing by 2.3% to 3,328 points. Meanwhile, the supramax index registered its eighth consecutive increase, moving up by 1.1% to 1,423 points. In contrast, the panamax index, typically associated with carrying 60,000-70,000 tons of coal or grain, slipped by 0.5% to 1,887 points.
