FX.co ★ Slovakia Current Account Shifts to Surplus

In September 2025, Slovakia experienced a current account surplus of EUR 106 million, a significant turnaround from the EUR 567.3 million deficit it faced in the same month in the previous year. This represents the country's first current account surplus since August 2023. The change was primarily driven by a shift in the goods account, which posted a EUR 388.7 million surplus compared to the EUR 126.8 million deficit recorded in September 2024. Additionally, the services surplus almost doubled, rising to EUR 148.9 million from EUR 82.7 million. The primary income deficit also saw an improvement, narrowing to EUR 361.8 million from EUR 444.1 million, and there was a reduction in the secondary income shortfall, which decreased to EUR 69.7 million from EUR 79.1 million.
