Lithuania Retail Sales at 5-Month Low

Retail sales in Lithuania experienced a 3.9% increase in October 2025 compared to the previous year. This represented a deceleration from the upwardly revised 4.5% growth seen in September, marking the slowest expansion in five months. The growth rate for non-food products softened to 10.5%, down from 11.3% in September, and similar trends were observed in other non-specialised stores, which grew by 41.9% compared to 46.2% previously, and in mail order, telephone, or internet sales, which posted a 29.4% increase, easing from 33.3%. Conversely, sales of automotive fuel continued to decline, dropping by 4.3%, following a 3.1% decrease in September. However, sales activity improved for food, beverages, and tobacco, registering a growth of 1.2% against 1%, non-specialised stores at 1.1% compared to 0.6%, and audio and video equipment at 2.6% versus 2.2%. On a month-to-month basis, retail sales rose by 0.3% in October, recovering from a 0.8% decline in the prior month.
