In November 2025, new car sales in the UK experienced a decline of 1.6% from the previous year, reaching 151,154 units. This decrease countered a 0.5% growth recorded in the prior month. Registrations among private buyers decreased by 5.5%, overshadowing a modest 0.2% rise in fleet uptake and an 18% increase in business buyer volumes, which typically represent a small portion of total registrations. Analyzing different vehicle categories, diesel engine registrations dropped significantly by 24%, while petrol car registrations declined by 5.9%. Conversely, new energy vehicle registrations captured over half of the total market share, showing increased sales in plug-in hybrid vehicles (14.8%), battery electric cars (3.6%), and hybrids (1.3%).
