FX.co ★ Baltic Dry Index Snaps 15-Day Rally

The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk index, responsible for tracking shipping rates for dry commodities, saw its 15-day winning streak come to an end on Thursday, experiencing a 1.1% dip to 2,815 points. Despite this, it remains near the highs witnessed in December 2023. The capesize index, which pertains to vessels typically carrying 150,000-ton cargoes like iron ore and coal, also declined by 1.3% to 5,319 points, yet it holds close to its greatest levels since December 2023. Concurrently, the panamax index, associated with carriers of 60,000-70,000 tons of coal or grain, slipped for the sixth consecutive session, decreasing by 1.5% to 1,863 points. Additionally, the supramax index reduced slightly by 3 points, standing at 1,441 points.
