FX.co ★ Turkey Retail Sales Hit 4-Month High

In October 2025, retail sales in Turkey experienced a 15% increase compared to the same month the previous year, advancing from a revised 14.9% in September. This represents the most robust growth observed since June. Sales accelerated in several areas: food, beverages, and tobacco saw an increase of 11.9% compared to 11.8% in September; information and communication equipment grew by 15.9% up from 13.1%; cultural and recreational goods rose to 7.8% from 5.7%; other goods surged by 30.8% from 30.1%; and sales not conducted in traditional stores, stalls, or markets went up from 4.5% to 4.6%. Conversely, sales growth slowed in certain sectors: automotive fuel went from 7.6% to 7.4%; other household equipment dropped from 8.2% to 5.4%; sales via stalls and markets decreased significantly from 13.3% to 1.6%; and non-specialized store sales fell from 8.8% to 7.9%. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, the pace of retail activity decelerated sharply to 0.2% from a revised 2.4% in September, marking its lowest level since July.
