US Economy Adds 64K Jobs in November

In November, the U.S. job market saw an increase of 64,000 positions, contrasting with a decline of 105,000 jobs in October and surpassing market projections of a 50,000 rise. Employment gains were notable in the health care sector, which added 46,000 jobs, and the construction industry, contributing 28,000 jobs. The social assistance sector also experienced a continued upward trend with an increase of 18,000 jobs. Conversely, the transportation and warehousing sector saw a reduction of 18,000 jobs. The federal government continued to experience job losses, dropping 6,000 positions in November following a significant loss of 162,000 jobs in October. This decline largely resulted from the departure of federal employees who accepted deferred buyouts in line with President Trump's initiative to reduce government size. August's total nonfarm payroll employment figures were revised downward by 22,000, changing from a decrease of 4,000 to a decrease of 26,000, while September's figures were adjusted downward by 11,000, from an initial increase of 119,000 to 108,000 jobs.
