Japan's foremost economic indicator, designed to project the economic outlook for the coming months by analyzing factors such as job openings and consumer confidence, was slightly adjusted down to 109.8 for October 2025, a revision from the initial estimate of 110.0. Nevertheless, this latest figure is still higher than the 108.2 recorded in September, marking the top level since June 2024. This improvement is bolstered by a significant increase in consumer confidence, which reached its highest point in 19 months during October. Employment figures hit a new peak, although the unemployment rate held steady at 2.6% as of September. As the year draws to a close, cost pressures are anticipated to persist. However, overall consumer spending remains on a path of recovery.
