In November 2025, Japan's unemployment rate remained steady at 2.6%, consistent with the previous three months and matching market expectations. This figure continues to be the highest since July 2024. During this period, the number of unemployed individuals decreased by 40,000, totaling 1.81 million. Conversely, employment saw an increase of 500,000, reaching an unprecedented high of 68.51 million, while the labor force slightly grew by 20,000, coming to 70.32 million. The group of individuals not participating in the workforce saw a marginal rise of 10,000 to 39.32 million. When examining non-seasonally adjusted data, the labor force participation rate was at 64.1%, a slight decline from October but an increase from 63.5% in the previous year. Concurrently, the jobs-to-applicants ratio held steady at 1.18, representing its lowest point since January 2022, in line with general forecasts.
