The Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) for the Eurozone increased to 99.4 in January 2026, a significant rise of 2.2 points from December's adjusted figure of 97.2, and surpassing market forecasts of 97.0. This represents the highest level recorded since January 2023. Sentiment among service providers improved considerably, reaching 7.2, the strongest level since January 2024. Manufacturers' confidence also saw a boost, increasing to -6.8, the highest since May 2023. Consumer confidence showed signs of strengthening, improving to -12.4, the best level since February 2025. On the inflation front, consumer price expectations decreased by 2.6 points to 24.1, and expectations for manufacturers' selling prices dropped by 0.8 points to 10. Among the largest economies in the region, the ESI rose in France (+5.8), Germany (+3.0), the Netherlands (+2.3), Spain (+1.7), and Italy (+1.3).
