US Factory Orders Rise Most in 6 Months

In November 2025, new orders for U.S. manufactured goods experienced a notable rebound, increasing by 2.7% from the previous month to reach a seasonally adjusted $621.6 billion. This rise follows a revised 1.2% decline in the prior month, marking the most significant increase seen in half a year. The boost was mainly driven by durable goods orders, which climbed by 5.3% to $323.8 billion. A substantial contribution came from a 14.7% surge in transportation equipment orders, amounting to $119.4 billion, largely attributed to nearly double the number of nondefense aircraft and parts orders, totaling $35.4 billion. Additional gains were observed in orders for electrical equipment, which rose by 1% to $18.2 billion; fabricated metal products, increasing by 0.9% to $42.4 billion; and machinery, which grew by 0.3% to $40 billion. In contrast, orders in the nondurable goods sector remained unchanged from the previous month, holding steady at $297.9 billion.
