In December 2025, Colombia experienced an increase in its unemployment rate, reaching 8.0% compared to 7.0% in November. However, in the country's 13 major cities and metropolitan areas, the unemployment rate decreased to 7.8% from 9.0% in December of the previous year. Meanwhile, the labor force participation rate saw a slight decline to 64.3%, down from 64.4% the year before. On the other hand, the employment rate rose to 59.2% from 58.5% in December 2024, signifying modest progress in job creation even in the face of the monthly uptick in unemployment.
