French Producer Price Growth Cools Sharply in December, Signalling Easing Cost Pressures

France’s producer price inflation slowed markedly in December 2025, suggesting a significant easing in upstream cost pressures for the euro area’s second-largest economy.

According to the latest data updated on 30 January 2026, the French Producer Price Index (PPI) rose by just 0.2% month-over-month in December. This is a sharp deceleration from November 2025, when the index increased by 2.8% compared with October.

The figures are based on a month-over-month comparison, where the current reading reflects the change in prices from December to November, and the previous reading captures the change from November to October. The steep slowdown in PPI growth may indicate a moderation in input cost inflation for French producers heading into 2026, with potential implications for future consumer price trends and corporate margins.
