Mexico’s economy showed a modest improvement at the end of 2025, with gross domestic product (GDP) expanding by 1.8% year-over-year in the fourth quarter. The reading, updated on 23 February 2026, marks a slight acceleration from the previous year-over-year pace of 1.6% recorded in the fourth quarter of 2024.
The year-over-year comparison indicates that economic activity in the final quarter of 2025 grew a bit faster than it did over the same period a year earlier. The previous figure of 1.6% reflected the change in GDP in the fourth quarter of 2024 versus the fourth quarter of 2023, while the latest 1.8% shows the change in the fourth quarter of 2025 versus the fourth quarter of 2024.
Although the improvement is incremental, the uptick suggests that Mexico managed to slightly strengthen its growth momentum heading into 2026, based on the latest available quarterly data.
