Thailand’s private consumption growth slowed markedly at the start of 2026, with the indicator easing to 1.0% month-over-month in January from 2.5% in December 2025.
According to the latest data, updated on 27 February 2026, the current 1.0% figure reflects a clear moderation in the pace of consumer activity when compared with the previous month’s expansion. While December 2025 had shown a relatively robust 2.5% month-on-month rise, January’s reading signals a more cautious pattern of household spending.
The comparison is based on month-over-month changes, meaning January 2026 consumption is measured against December 2025 levels, while the December figure itself was measured against November 2025. The slowdown suggests that the strong year-end momentum in private consumption did not fully carry over into the new year, an important signal for analysts tracking the strength and sustainability of Thailand’s domestic demand.
