FX.co ★ Bulgaria Tourist Arrivals Up 6.9% in January

Tourist arrivals in Bulgaria increased by 6.9% year-on-year in January 2026, reaching 790.3 thousand compared with 739.0 thousand a year earlier, with growth observed across all travel categories. Visits for holiday and recreation numbered 307.2 thousand, business and professional trips totaled 111.0 thousand, and visits for other purposes came to 372.1 thousand. Citizens of EU member states accounted for 54.2% of all arrivals, mainly from Romania (37.6%) and Greece (31.2%), followed by Germany (4.1%), Italy (3.9%), and Austria (3.2%). Visitors from other European countries represented 37.2% of total arrivals, led by Turkey with 49.3%, then Serbia with 18.1%, North Macedonia with 19.0%, and Russia with 1.6%. Transit passengers made up 27.5% of all recorded visits.
