Slovakia’s industrial production returned to positive territory at the start of 2026, marking a sharp turnaround after a deep contraction at the end of last year. Year-over-year industrial output rose 2.7% in January 2026, following an 8.5% decline in December 2025, according to data updated on 10 March 2026.
The figures are calculated on a year-over-year basis, comparing each month’s performance with the same month a year earlier. The latest result suggests that the sector has moved from a pronounced downturn to modest growth in just one month, potentially signaling improving conditions for Slovak manufacturers and exporters as the new year begins.
