Croatia’s trade deficit narrowed to EUR 1.1 billion in January 2026, down from EUR 1.5 billion in the same month a year earlier, as exports fell by less than imports. Exports declined 10.6% year-on-year to EUR 1.8 billion, reflecting lower sales to both EU countries (-7.0%) and non-EU markets (-17.8%). Imports dropped 16.9% to EUR 2.9 billion, driven by reduced purchases from EU partners (-8.8%) and an even sharper decrease in imports from non-EU countries (-41.1%).
