FX.co ★ Estonia Trade Gap Narrows in January

Estonia’s trade deficit narrowed to EUR 247 million in January 2026, down from EUR 350 million in the same month a year earlier, as exports increased and imports declined. On an annual basis, exports rose by 4% to EUR 1,557 million, driven by an 11% increase in shipments to EU countries, while exports to non-EU countries fell by 16%. Key export categories included electrical equipment, agricultural products and food preparations, wood and wood articles, and mineral products, with particularly strong growth in precious metals as well as in agricultural products and food preparations. In contrast, imports decreased by 2% to EUR 1,804 million, reflecting a 20% drop in purchases from non-EU countries despite a 2% increase in imports from EU partners. Major import categories were mineral products, electrical equipment, and agricultural products and food preparations, while transport equipment recorded the largest decline.
