FX.co ★ Brazil's IBC-Br Economic Activity Index Hits 1-Year High

Brazil's IBC-Br economic activity index increased by 0.8% month-on-month in January 2026, after a 0.2% decline in December, broadly matching market expectations of a 0.85% rise and marking the strongest monthly gain in a year. The services sector grew 0.8%, recovering from a 0.3% drop in the previous month, while industrial activity expanded 0.4%, following a 0.3% increase. The taxes index also advanced 0.5%. In contrast, the agriculture and livestock sector shrank 1.5%, reversing a 2.3% expansion in December. Excluding agriculture and livestock, the IBC-Br rose 0.9%. On a non-seasonally adjusted basis, the index was up 1.0% year-on-year.
