US capacity utilization held steady at 76.3% in February 2026, unchanged from January and 3.1 percentage points below its long-run average for 1972–2025. In manufacturing, utilization was also flat at 75.6%, remaining 2.6 percentage points under its historical norm. Mining posted a 0.7 percentage point increase in its operating rate, reaching 85.0%, while utilities registered a 0.7-point decline to 73.0%. Even with the monthly gain, mining utilization stayed 0.2 percentage points below its long-run average, and utilities continued to operate at a rate 11.0 percentage points beneath theirs.
