Mexico’s Private Spending Growth Eases Slightly in Q4 2025

Mexico’s private spending growth moderated in the fourth quarter of 2025, with the quarter-over-quarter indicator easing to 1.00%, down from 1.10% in the previous quarter. The latest data, updated on 20 March 2026, point to a small loss of momentum in household and corporate expenditure as the year came to a close.

In the third quarter of 2025, private spending had expanded by 1.10% compared with the previous quarter, signaling relatively stronger quarterly growth at that time. The fourth-quarter reading of 1.00% therefore reflects a marginal slowdown when comparing current quarter performance to the immediate prior quarter, in line with the quarter-over-quarter methodology described.

While the change is modest, the softer pace of private spending growth in late 2025 may be closely watched by policymakers and investors, as it can provide an early indication of demand-side dynamics heading into 2026. The sequential comparison underscores how momentum in private consumption and investment has cooled slightly, though it remains in positive territory on a quarterly basis.
