FX.co ★ Argentina Monthly Economic Activity Expands in January

Argentina’s economic activity increased 1.9% year-over-year in January 2026, with seasonally adjusted output rising 0.4% compared with December. Ten of the sectors tracked recorded annual gains. Fishing posted the strongest growth at 50.8%, followed by agriculture, livestock, hunting, and forestry at 25.1%, the largest positive contributor to overall annual growth. Mining and quarrying expanded 9.6%, and together agriculture and mining accounted for 1.7 percentage points of the annual increase in activity. In contrast, five sectors contracted year-over-year. Wholesale and retail trade and repairs declined 3.2%, while electricity, gas, and water fell 3.0%. Manufacturing output dropped 2.6% and public administration decreased 1.6%. Combined, these four sectors subtracted 0.9 percentage points from annual growth.
