Romania’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained at 6% in February 2026, unchanged from January, and held at its lowest level since September 2025 for a second consecutive month. The number of unemployed persons increased by 4.2 thousand from the previous month, reaching 494.7 thousand, but was down by 6.8 thousand compared with a year earlier. By gender, the unemployment rate for men rose to 6.1% from 6% in the prior month, while the rate for women edged up to 6% from 5.9%. Among individuals aged 25–74, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate inched up to 4.6% from 4.5% in the previous month, with a rate of 4.6% for men and 4.5% for women. This age group accounted for 71.6% of the total number of unemployed persons in February. In February 2025, the overall unemployment rate was slightly higher, at 6.1%.
