India’s BSE Sensex climbed about 0.7% to 77,148 on Friday, rebounding from the previous session’s losses as sentiment was lifted by strong quarterly earnings from Tata Consultancy Services. TCS reported a 9.7% increase in revenue and a 12.2% rise in net profit for the March quarter, and noted that emerging artificial intelligence tools have not yet dampened demand for its services.
Upside for the index may remain capped, however, by persistent concerns over the durability of the US-Iran ceasefire, which could keep volatility elevated and investors risk‑averse. Even so, the benchmark has risen 5.2% so far this week and is on course to break a six‑week losing streak, supported by optimism following the ceasefire announcement.
Notable gainers included Ola Electric (+6.8%), HDFC Bank (+1%), Billionbrains Garage (+3.9%), Garden Reach (+3.8%), and Shriram (+2.4%).
