Brazil's Industrial Business Confidence Index fell by 1.4 points to 45.2 in April 2026, reaching its lowest level since June 2020 and marking the third consecutive monthly decline. The Current Conditions Index dropped 1.6 points to 40.5, largely due to a 3.2-point decrease in entrepreneurs’ assessment of Brazil’s overall economic situation, which fell to 33.2 points. The index measuring current company conditions also slipped, declining 0.8 points to 44.1. The Expectations Index weakened as well, falling 1.2 points to 47.6. Within this, expectations for Brazil’s economy declined 1.7 points to 38.7, underscoring growing pessimism, while expectations for businesses’ own performance fell 1.0 point to 52.0, indicating a moderation in optimism.
