Romania’s car registration market returned to positive territory in March 2026, with year-over-year registrations rising 4.60%, according to data updated on 23 April 2026. The rebound follows a sharp contraction in February 2026, when registrations dropped 24.30% compared with the same month a year earlier.
The March figures suggest a notable turnaround in demand, at least in comparison with the weak base of March 2025. While February’s data highlighted significant pressure on the sector, the renewed year-over-year growth in March points to a stabilizing environment for Romania’s auto market as it moves into the second quarter of 2026.
