Canada’s manufacturing sector posted a stronger performance in April 2026, with sales rising 4.6% month-over-month, up from a 3.0% increase in March 2026. The latest data, updated on 26 May 2026, indicate a continued acceleration in factory activity on the back of consecutive monthly gains.
The month-over-month comparison shows that not only did manufacturing sales grow for a second straight month, but the pace of expansion also improved notably from March to April. In March, sales had already advanced 3.0% compared with February, and April’s 4.6% gain underscores further momentum in Canada’s industrial output.
According to the comparison framework, the “actual” April figure reflects the change relative to March, while the “previous” indicator captures March’s change relative to February. Together, the back-to-back increases point to a strengthening manufacturing landscape as the sector moves deeper into the second quarter of 2026.
