Speculative positioning in the New Zealand dollar showed a modest shift toward less bearish sentiment, according to the latest data on CFTC NZD speculative net positions updated on 29 May 2026. Net shorts in the NZD narrowed to -34.2K, compared with the previous reading of -40.6K.
The move indicates that while traders remain net short on the New Zealand currency, some bearish exposure has been reduced. This softening in negative bets may signal a tentative reassessment of the NZD’s outlook, as market participants adjust positions in response to evolving global and domestic economic conditions.
