Poland’s annual inflation rate eased slightly to 3.1% year-on-year in May 2026, down from 3.2% in April and in line with preliminary estimates. Price growth slowed in several categories, including food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.5% vs 1.9% in April), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (6.4% vs 6.7%), and information and communication services (4.5% vs 4.7%).

At the same time, deflation deepened in clothing and footwear (-3.4% vs -2.8%) and continued in furnishings, household equipment and routine maintenance (-0.9% vs -0.8%).

Conversely, price increases accelerated in a number of key sectors: housing and utilities (5% vs 4.8%), health (5.1% vs 5%), transport (5.6% vs 3.5%), recreation, sports and culture (5.6% vs 4.6%), and restaurants and hotels (4.5% vs 4.4%). Inflation remained unchanged in education at 6%, and in personal hygiene, social protection, and other goods and services at 1.7%.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell by 0.3% in May, reversing a 0.6% increase in April and marking the largest decline since September 2023.
