In April 2026, the number of building permits issued in Serbia rose by 4.3% year-on-year to 2,416, easing from a robust 19.3% increase recorded in the previous month. Building construction permits made up the bulk of total permits, accounting for 82.4%. Within this segment, residential buildings dominated with an 80.3% share, while non-residential buildings accounted for the remaining 19.7%.
A total of 2,657 dwellings were approved for construction. Of these, 15.2% were planned in single-dwelling buildings, and 81.9% in multi-unit buildings with three or more dwellings.
Civil engineering structures represented the remaining 17.6% of total permits, with the largest share—73.6%—allocated to pipelines, communication lines, and electrical power lines. New construction projects accounted for 80.4% of the total projected value of works.
By region, the highest level of construction activity was expected in the Belgrade region, with a 39.8% share, followed by the South Banat region with 10%.
