Tourist arrivals in Macau increased by 3.4% year-on-year to 3.488 million in May 2026, easing from an 11.3% surge in the previous month. Same-day visitors rose 7.9%, while overnight visitors declined 3.0%. The average length of stay shortened by 0.1 day from a year earlier to 1.0 day, and the average stay of overnight visitors was unchanged at 2.3 days.
By source market, visitors from Mainland China climbed 4.2% year-on-year to 2.54 million in May, with arrivals under the Individual Visit Scheme up 5.2% to 1.38 million. Arrivals from Taiwan (93,701) and Thailand (20,447) rose 18.9% and 36.1%, respectively. In contrast, visitor numbers from Hong Kong (-0.4% to 618,341), the Philippines (-11.5% to 50,462), and South Korea (-14.6% to 35,663) all declined.
Over the first five months of 2026, total visitor arrivals grew 11.1% year-on-year to 18.14 million.
