FX.co ★ Lithuania Industrial Output Tumbles in May

Industrial production in Lithuania decreased by 1.6% year-on-year in May 2026, reversing a 7.5% rise in April and marking the first annual contraction since September 2025. The downturn was mainly driven by a sharp loss of momentum in manufacturing output, which fell by 1.0% after growing 7.7% in April. Mining and quarrying activity also weakened, with growth slowing to 1.7% from 8.2%. Declines intensified in water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation services (-13.3% vs. -11.6% in April), as well as in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply (-9.5% vs. -4.5%). On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, industrial production contracted by 2.9% in May, following a revised 1.8% drop in April.
