Philippines Inflation Mildly Up in June, But CPI Still in Negative Territory

The Philippines’ consumer price index (CPI) remained in negative territory on a month-over-month basis in June 2026, though the pace of decline moderated. According to the latest data updated on 7 July 2026, the CPI fell by 0.3% in June compared with May, easing from a 0.5% month-on-month drop recorded in May 2026.

The month-over-month data show that while price pressures remain subdued, the intensity of deflationary momentum is softening. The previous reading reflected a 0.5% decline in prices from April to May, whereas the latest figure indicates a smaller 0.3% decline from May to June. This comparison underscores that, although overall prices are still edging lower, the rate of decrease is slowing.

On a month-over-month basis, the “Actual” figure for June measures the change in prices versus May, while the “Previous” figure captures May’s change against April. Investors and policymakers will be watching subsequent releases to see whether the narrowing negative readings signal a turn toward price stabilization in the coming months.
