Brazil’s Thomson Reuters IPSOS PCSI Dips in July, Signaling Slight Softening in Consumer Sentiment

Brazil’s Thomson Reuters IPSOS Primary Consumer Sentiment Index (PCSI) edged lower in July 2026, signaling a mild weakening in consumer confidence. The index fell to 52.05 in July from 53.00 in June 2026, according to data updated on 8 July 2026.

Despite the decline, the PCSI remains above the 50-point threshold, indicating that overall sentiment in Brazil is still in mildly positive territory. The month-on-month drop, however, suggests that Brazilian consumers have become slightly less optimistic about economic conditions compared with the previous month.

Market observers will be watching forthcoming data closely to assess whether July’s reading marks the start of a more persistent downturn in sentiment or simply a temporary pause after recent gains. For now, the July pullback highlights a more cautious tone among Brazilian households as they navigate the current economic environment.
