US equity index futures traded higher on Tuesday, supported by strength in the technology sector ahead of a busy stretch of earnings reports. S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average futures were each up roughly 0.5%, rebounding after several subdued sessions, while Nasdaq 100 futures gained nearly 1%.
Alphabet advanced in premarket trading ahead of its quarterly results due tomorrow after the closing bell, with investors viewing the release as a key gauge of AI infrastructure demand from hyperscalers. Semiconductor stocks also moved higher after robust export data from Taiwan and South Korea extended momentum for chipmakers. Tesla traded about 1% higher ahead of its own earnings announcement tomorrow.
Outside of tech, recent selling pressure in other sectors paused, even as tensions between Iran and the United States escalated further and contributed to higher energy prices. Elevated Treasury yields continued to weigh on parts of the market, prompting financial stocks to give back a portion of last week’s earnings-driven gains.
In corporate news, General Motors rose about 2% after reporting its latest results, while Charles Schwab fell roughly 3% following an earnings miss.
